Squalene
Squalene is an open-chain triterpene compound. It was first extracted from shark liver oil. Squalene is also naturally synthesized in the human body and accounts for about 13% of skin sebum. It plays an important role in maintaining the skin’s moisture barrier, reducing moisture loss, and supporting skin plumpness and radiance.
