Turmeric Extract
As the age increases, one may experience decreased flexibility, soreness in the morning, and difficulty walking. Research has shown that curcumin, a polyphenolic compound in turmeric, exhibits strong antioxidative properties that helps effectively scavenge free radicals, reduce harm, and is also a natural anti-inflammatory compound.
Turmeric extract is sourced from the rhizome of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.), a plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. The edible rhizome is commonly used as a spice and is the main component of curry. With a recorded history of human use spanning over 4,000 years, turmeric was used in ancient India to treat inflammatory conditions. In modern medicine, the rich curcumin content of turmeric is valued for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which are considered essential for maintaining joint health.
Nevertheless, curcumin is not water-soluble and is rapidly metabolized by the body, resulting in short-lived efficacy. For this reason, conventional turmeric supplements often face challenges of low absorption and poor bioavailability. To address this, some manufacturers apply specialized processing technologies to enhance bioavailability and absorption, allowing sustained release release in the body and improved health benefits.
