Watershield Extract
This watershield extract is a specialty plant extract ingredient developed by Oryza Oil & Fat Chemical Co. Ltd. of Japan. It is derived from a traditional food source – Brasenia schreberi – nurtured by the World Heritage Shirakami Mountains. Watershield grows in pristine aquatic environments. Its outer layer is naturally rich in mucilaginous polysaccharides, and the plant has long been regarded as a botanical material possessing both nutritional value and functional potential.
Utilizing hand-picked, translucent young shoots and a standardized extraction process, the complete nutritional profile of polyphenol, polysaccharides, and characteristic phytochemicals is preserved, granting the ingredient stability and reproducible quality. Through collaboration with Kyoto Pharmaceutical University, a bioactive compound exclusive to Watershield, “Junsainoside A,” was discovered. This compound has been recognized by Japanese researchers for its potential benefits related to metabolic support and beauty-enhancing properties.
