Schisandra Extract

Schisandra is a perennial, deciduous woody vine (liana) belonging to the Magnoliaceae family. It is referred to as Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) and Schisandra sphenanthera (Rehd. et Wils.) and also known by other names such as Wu Wei, Bei Wu Wei Zi, and Shan Wu Wei.

Schisandra is used as a traditional medicinal herb in China. Its dried, ripe fruit is called “Bei We Wei Zi”. The Schisandra fruit can have different perceived taste depending on an individual’s physiological state. Schisandra is known to help promote metabolism and enhance vitality.
